Mission Hills Gets a Taste of Europe With Paradis

Paradis is about to shake up the Mission Hills dining scene, and we’re here for it. This European-inspired café and modern pintxo bar is set to become your new all-day hangout, from your first cup of joe to your last sip of cocktail.

Paradis Mission Hills

From Morning Espresso to Evening Pintxos

Imagine starting your day with a perfectly pulled espresso and a fresh-from-the-oven pastry, then winding down with creative cocktails and mouthwatering small plates. That’s the Paradis experience in a nutshell.

By day, this spot will be your go-to for specialty coffee drinks and matcha mulled right before your eyes. And those pastries? They’re the handiwork of Chef Aly Lyng, the pastry wizard from George’s at the Cove.

But don’t fill up on breakfast because when the afternoon rolls around, Paradis transforms into a buzzing pintxo bar. We’re talking expertly crafted cocktails paired with elevated small plates.

A Culinary Dream Team Brings European Flair to San Diego

The brains behind this operation? None other than Jacquee Renna Downing, the restaurateur who’s been wowing Palm Desert with spots like La Quinta Cliffhouse and Pacifica Seafood.

She’s teamed up with Chef Jon Hawkins from Realm of the 52 Remedies and Common Theory to bring some serious culinary firepower to the table.

Downing’s vision for Paradis is all about creating a space that feels like home—if your home happened to be a chic European café, that is. We’re talking fresh, locally sourced dishes, housemade baked goods that’ll make you weak in the knees, and sandwiches that’ll ruin all other sandwiches for you.

But let’s chat about those pintxos. Chef Hawkins is pulling out all the stops with housemade tinned local fish, bites on fuille de brick (fancy French pastry, for those of us who don’t speak chef), skewered meats, and plenty of options for our veggie and vegan friends.

You can sidle up to the bar to enjoy these bite-sized beauties or have them made to order. And the vibe? Pure European café charm, courtesy of Design Perspectives.

Picture a cozy, sophisticated interior that opens up to a vibrant courtyard. It’s the perfect spot for everything from your morning coffee ritual to your after-work unwind session.
