San Diego’s Rooftop Cinema Club Launches A Summer Lineup Loaded With Hot Hits
Now that we are finally getting the San Diego weather we deserve, Rooftop Cinema Club Embarcadero at the Manchester Grand Hyatt is ready to turn up the temperature in San Diego with a lineup that brings the heat!
The latest program extends through Labor Day and tickets to San Diego’s iconic outdoor cinema with never-ending views of the downtown skyline are now on sale here.
This year’s Summer outdoor movie lineup at Rooftop Cinema Club is hot! Featured films on the docket include Independence Day, The Hunger Games, Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick, Scream, Goodfellas, The Silence of the Lambs, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and more than 150 others.

Due to unforeseen construction at the Grand Hyatt, Rooftop Cinema Club Embarcadero will temporarily close from June 19-30. Two Pride-themed films that were previously scheduled for June during Pride Month (Mean Girls and Everything Everywhere All at Once) have been rescheduled and will now screen the week of July 8-16, which coincides with San Diego’s Pride Week.
As a reminder, Rooftop Cinema Club is donating $1 to Lambda Legal for every ticket sold to this year’s special Pride Month screenings. Lambda Legal is the oldest and largest national legal organization working for the civil rights of LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV.
Rooftop Cinema Club Summer Lineup Specials
Rooftop Cinema Club Embarcadero has a host of special events and themed screenings queued up to celebrate Summer that include 4th of July, films directed by Christopher Nolan, a “People’s Choice” Creature Feature Night, Best Movie Villains and an It’s Getting Hot in Here series.

Pink Power
In honor of Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated, pinked-out vision that is Barbie, Rooftop Cinema Club is highlighting some of the best and most beloved feminist movies at the Rooftop throughout July, including The Hunger Games, Clueless, Captain Marvel and of course, Legally Blonde.
Christopher Nolan Series
With his latest epic, Oppenheimer, set to hit screens July 21, RCC is shining a spotlight on the films of visionary director Christopher Nolan. Every week in July, Rooftop Cinema Club will light up the screen with one of Nolan’s masterpieces to help get movie-watchers excited for the next chapter in his already storied career. Nolan Series films include Leonardo DiCaprio in Inception, Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar and Guy Pearce and Carrie-Anne Moss in Memento.
Harry Potter’s Birthday
Happee Birthdae, Harry! On July 31, RCC will celebrate the birthday of the most infamous wizard of all time by screening the film that started it all, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, on Harry’s Big Day!
People’s Choice: Creature Feature
Rooftop Cinema Club is making the theme of its August 1 “People’s Choice” film a bit different – as in non-human! RCC aficionados can vote for the “Creature Feature” they’d like to see on the Rooftop HERE.
Some of cinema’s most popular creatures are among the nominees. Voting closes July 17 and the winning film will be announced July 18. Tickets for this screening are only $10 as a way of thanking fans for voting for their favorite “Creature Feature” and being part of the RCC family.
It’s Getting Hot in Here
As summer hits its stride, RCC will celebrate mid-summer with an August series of films dedicated to bringing the heat – introducing the “It’s Getting Hot in Here” series. It includes everything from exotic locales, summer loving, and those films that just make you feel like sweatin’. It’s a diverse lineup with The Beach, Point Break and of course Dirty Dancing among the offerings.
Best Movie Villains
This August, RCC will play a series of films showcasing characters that make being bad look so good by screening films featuring some of the greatest and most wickedly fun villains of all time. It’s a frightful lineup that includes The Mummy, Scream, The Silence of the Lambs, The Empire Strikes Back, Horrible Bosses and, The Devil Wears Prada.
Summerween
And speaking of frightful, Rooftop Cinema Club firmly believes that October isn’t the only month to enjoy Halloween movies, so this summer, they’ll gear up for the spooky season by playing some of their faves at the Rooftop, including Friday the 13th, The Addams Family, A Nightmare on Elm Street and more.
National Book Lover’s Day
For National Book Lover’s Day on Aug. 9, RCC will screen Joe Wright’s beloved big-screen adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic starring Keira Knightley and Succession’s Michael Macfayden: Pride & Prejudice.
Robert De Niro’s 80th Birthday
“You never rat on your friends, and always keep your mouth shut!” To honor screen icon Robert De Niro as he hits the big 8-0 on Aug. 17, RCC will screen one of his best and most celebrated performances as hothead wiseguy Jimmy Conway in Martin Scorsese’s mob masterpiece Goodfellas.
Y2K Tuesdays
Y2K is back and Rooftop Cinema Club is waxing nostalgic with a movie series dedicated to the calamity that was expected to come at the turn of the century. Each Tuesday, RCC is bringing back all the turn-of-the-millennium style and vibes with Y2K Tuesdays, featuring some of its favorite movies that defined the era. The July-August Y2K lineup includes some great Y2K cult-classics, including 50 First Dates, American Pie, Bring it On, White Chicks and 10 Things I Hate About You among them.
“Wooftop” Cinema Club
Rooftop Cinema Club’s “Wooftop” dog-friendly screenings are among its most popular, and five of these events are in the queue for July, August and early-September. Dog lovers can unite and mark their calendars for July 8 (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish), July 22 (Crazy Stupid Love), Aug. 6 (The Greatest Showman), Aug. 20 (Casablanca) and Sept. 3 (Practical Magic). A special relief area will be provided and pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. Also, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
Open Caption Screenings
Rooftop Cinema Club’s open caption screenings are open to all movie lovers and feature captions throughout the film to make the event accessible for deaf and hard-of-hearing guests. Open caption screenings slated for July and August include The Wolf of Wall Street (July 15), Romeo + Juliet (July 30), The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Aug. 12) and Fight Club (Aug. 27).

Screenings with movie start times before 4:30PM are open to all ages, while those 4:30PM or later are strictly 18+. Standard tickets for adults 18+ for single and double (Loveseat) Adirondack chairs range from $16.50–$22.50, while kids’ tickets are $11.75.
Tax and booking fees apply and separate admission is required for double (Loveseat) Adirondack chairs. Rooftop Cinema Club’s delicious freshly-popped popcorn is included with most ticket purchases.
