Cheers to Our Local Legends! San Diego Breweries Win Big at the 2025 World Beer Cup
San Diego’s craft beer community showed up and showed out at the 2025 World Beer Cup—aka The Olympics of Beer.
Five San Diego County breweries and one standout from Tijuana brought home a total of eight medals, proving once again that our region continues to lead the pack when it comes to quality, creativity, and consistency in craft brewing.
Top Local Standouts
Pizza Port Brewing Company made the biggest splash with three medals across three locations:
- Silver for “Schwarzbier” (Imperial Beach) in the German-Style Schwarzbier category
- Silver for “Oscar Wanted a Brown Ale” (Solana Beach)
- Bronze for “Junk In Da Trunkel Dunkel” (Ocean Beach)

Noteworthy Firsts & Highlights
Insurgente became just the second Tijuana brewery ever to win a World Beer Cup medal—another sign that the region’s beer culture doesn’t stop at the border. And even with tough competition—8,375 beers entered from 1,761 breweries across 49 countries—San Diego still walked away with eight well-earned medals.
