San Diego International Airport’s Live Poetry Experience Turns Travel Stories Into Art

Next time you pass through San Diego International Airport (SAN), your journey might become a poem! The airport’s Spring 2025 Performing Arts Resident, Poets Underground, invites travelers to share their stories at The Great Poetic Baggage Exchange—a luggage-inspired stage where conversations about travel are transformed into poetry.

Spring 2025 Performing Arts Resident, Poets Underground

A Creative Take on the Travel Experience

This interactive residency explores five themes—Adventure, Baggage, Connection, Checkpoint, and Rise—turning real traveler experiences into spoken word, written poetry, and live mural painting.

Poets Underground, a San Diego-based nonprofit, specializes in using poetry and storytelling to build inclusive communities, and now they’re bringing that creative magic to SAN.

Select poems from this residency will be featured in three live performances on May 2, 6, and 8, preserving these travel-inspired moments in an anthology that captures the poetry of movement and connection.

See you there!
