SD Loyal Street Soccer Park Coming To Escondido
In partnership with the City of Escondido, San Diego Loyal SC and sponsors, BluPeak and Psyonix, along with non-profit Street Soccer USA (SSUSA) announced the construction of a first of its kind soccer facility in the region, the SD Loyal Street Soccer USA Park.
The new SD Loyal Street Soccer USA Park will host daily free play as well as year-round programming at no cost to the local community for years to come. Thanks to heavy community buy-in and support from the City of Escondido, the SD Loyal Street Soccer USA Park will be a point of community pride and draw local residents together when it opens in Spring to early Summer 2023.
The new park facility highlights SD Loyal’s commitment to expanding access to soccer and safe places to play across the region. The SD Loyal Street Soccer USA Park meets a demonstrated need for a high quality soccer play space in the city’s Washington Park. The park will be the first of its kind in Southern California and represents the beginning of a long-term partnership between SSUSA and SD Loyal to work with local communities to develop fields and exceptional soccer programming to all areas in the region.
Danielle Lopez, Assistant Director of Community Services for the City of Escondido shared, “The City of Escondido is proud to be the home of the first Street Soccer USA park in the region and is looking forward to bringing soccer to Washington Park.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Street Soccer USA, Psyonix and BluPeak to bring the SD Loyal Street Soccer USA Park to life,” said Ricardo Campos, SD Loyal Club President. “By providing year-round programming and safe daily free play to Washington Park, we hope to inspire the next generation of local soccer talent.”
“The vision of the SD Loyal, Psyonix and BluPeak and the incredible creative leadership of the City of Escondido have made this Park a reality for the Escondido community,” said Rob Cann, SSUSA Managing Director. “Not only will this park strengthen this community through soccer, but it will connect them to other communities across the region as our Street League initiative grows, harnessing the power of this beautiful game to build a brighter future.”
Further details and plans will be released ahead of a ribbon cutting ceremony and inaugural soccer event in Washington Park to take place in the coming months.
See you there, San Diego!
