Executive Chef Brad Wise and General Manager Steven Schwob are the culinary minds behind the concept where guests can come to “meat”, indulge and relive an era of unforgettable style.

“Steaking” a claim in University Heights, Rare Society offers a steakhouse meets shared plates menu featuring Santa Maria style wood-fired steaks, chops, seafood and modern riffs on favorite steakhouse sides.

“Rare Society Steakhouse has a sleek retro look, attitude, and menu,” said Wise. “We want to transport guests back to a time where a delicious meal, stellar service, well-crafted cocktails, and killer wines were in reach of everyone.”

Pastries

Pastry Chef Jeremy Harville will direct the bakery selections, including his signature Parker House Rolls, and dessert menu featuring sweet-tooth satisfying treats such as house-made layer cakes, cheesecakes and scoops of TRG’s new in-house brand, Mr. Trustee ice cream.

The baked goods and frozen delights also offer a glimpse of a more expansive bakery program planned for TRG’s forthcoming Cardellino in Mission Hills set to open in early 2020.

Cocktails

Newly appointed beverage director, Frank McGrath, formerly of Polite Provisions, has built the ultimate steakhouse cocktail list featuring a selection of classic martinis and well-balanced, handcrafted libations with flavor profiles designed to pair with the hearty dishes.

Selections include an Old Fashioned, Manhattan, and Whiskey Sour and a gin and vermouth-based Martinez, thought to be the precursor to the Martini. The carefully selected wine list features classic producers and cult-like wines from across the globe.

The sexy edge

Soon to be one of San Diego’s chicest eateries and venues for private parties and events, Rare Society will have a sophisticated, sexy edge with nods to Las Vegas. The intimate, seductively lit space, envisioned by GTC Design, invites guests to slide into comfy booths and dine like mad men and women.

Outside on the patio, a fire pit will be the perfect place to enjoy cocktails and small bites and take in the neighborhood charm.
