For the Wild Turkeys…The 7 Best San Diego Bars To Imbibe On Thanksgiving

When you’ve eaten all the turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes you can stomach on Thanksgiving Day some of you will decide it’s time to switch from coma inducing turkey to intoxicating Wild Turkey.

We don’t blame you; the bars on Thanksgiving always bring out a festive crowd that’s perfect for ending the day!

Take a look at our list of 7 bars to cap off your Thanksgiving Night.

1). Barleymash

If you fancy a hip bar with a comfortable vibe then consider taking a trip into the Gaslamp Quarter to visit Barleymash. Enjoy one (or more) of the 30 beers Barleymash has on tap to go along with cocktails and wine. Then enjoy your libations while watching football on one (or more) of several big screens.

2). Bar Pink Cocktail Lounge

For the hipster seeking a dive bar with stiff drinks and music take a stroll into North Park to find Bar Pink off University Street. Tipsy folks can enjoy the stiff cocktails, while the more inebriated clientele will probably take to the dance floor. Bring cash for this experience because they don’t take plastic.

3). Millers Field

We think that many of you will escape the family to watch some football on Thanksgiving Day, and that’s why we have to mention Pacific Beach’s Millers Field Sports Bar. Typically, Thursday offers $4 pints, but they may not stick to their normal menu.

We’ve been told that Millers Field will not stick to its normal hours either, but will stay open until the end of football games (or as long as you can convince them to pour you beers).

4). The Commons Bar

This seems to be one of the few bars not taking the night off from its normal routine. On Thursdays enjoy Sonic Bingo, which features radio personality Sonic, and DJ’s playing your favorite popular tunes.

This bar in the Gaslamp Quarter will feature Sonic Bingo on Thanksgiving from 7-9pm. Drop in for a try at winning a “drop on the Drinko Board” and a chance at greater prizes.

5). PB Cantina

This Pacific Beach favorite has what you’re looking for! They get pumpkin pie points for keeping their normal hours (12pm-2am). Put some whip cream on top because they’re keeping their regular happy hour (all drinks 2 for 1 4p-8pm &1030p-1230pm!). Then go ahead and have your pie and eat it too because they feature 60 HD LED TV’s.

6). Tavern at the Beach

For those whose Thanksgiving gathering caused more stress than joy the $5 you call it is a drinkers paradise. Find Tavern at the Beach off of Garnet Ave in Pacific Beach.

They won’t open until 5pm, but it will imbibe you with your desired cocktail until 2am.

7). Whistle Stop Bar

Alright, so you’ve had your fill of turkey and football and now it’s time to tie one on with your friends or more adventurous family members. Head to this bar in South Park/Golden Hill area for music, beers and cocktails.

Whistle Stop Bar won’t open its doors until 8pm, but it will keep them open until 2am. They don’t have any drink specials going on because they probably feel that being open on Thanksgiving is enough to drive patrons in.

Happy Thanksgiving!
