Brian Malarkey’s Herb & Sea Opens For Takeout

Herb & Sea, Brian Malarkey’s North County coastal dining experience, is re-opening for takeout service as Herb & Home.

Launching Thursday, May 21st, Herb & Home will offer a selection of family-style meals available for curbside pick-up. Inspired by simple, clean and bright flavors with a wood-fired emphasis, Herb & Home’s menu will be approachable and comforting, highlighting the bounty of local farms and the seasonal ingredients.  The menu will be available Thursday through Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Family Feast

Each week, Brian Malarkey and his chef team will release a new family-style menu with a choice of an entree alongside five side dishes, including a salad, roasted vegetables, and a dessert.

For Herb & Home’s first week of service, diners can choose either a Half-Roasted Chicken topped with Salsa Verde, Capers, and Lemon, an Eye of Ribeye with a White Balsamic Pink Peppercorn Vinaigrette, a Roasted Cauliflower Steak served with a Citrus Chimichurri, or a Pink Peppercorn Crusted Bluefin Tuna, with Roasted Red Pepper and an Herb Salad.

Side dishes to accompany the mains include Charred Broccolini, Boardwalk Potatoes, Local Farmers Market Mixed Greens, and Freshly Baked Cookies with Homemade Ice Cream for dessert. Recreating favorites from both Herb & Sea and Herb & Wood’s menu, a rotating selection of additional appetizers will be made available as an add-on to the family meal. Dishes include the Baja Shrimp Cocktail and the Pork Belly with Maple, Chili, and Wheat Berries. Family meals start at $39 per person, and can be pre-ordered.

Sommelier Wine Boxes + Booze

At the bar, Beverage Director Brandon Lervold has curated a Sommelier’s Box for North County’s most ardent wine aficionados. The six-pack of wine, which retails for $155, includes a selection of hard-to-find labels and unique varietals, including a Gamay Noir from the Willamette Valley, a Touriga Blend from Portugal, and a Pino Noir Rosé from Germany. For those looking for single bottles for purchase, Herb & Home will be offering a rotating selection that will be sold a la carte.

Alongside the wine program, diners will also be able to order cocktails to go.  Included in the initial launch are refreshing options such as the Hibiscus & Agave (Hibiscus Syrup, Lime, Tequila, Orange Liqueur), and the Bourbon & Honey (Lemon, Black Pepper-Turmeric-Honey, Bourbon). The cocktails are batched to serve two, and can be sold in two or four packs.

Those looking for a more direct option can order the Old Fashioned Kit, which includes a bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon, one bottle of Angostura Bitters, eight ounces of housemade Demerara Syrup, and an orange, all for $55 (sign us up for that one!).

Stay healthy, San Diego!
