Classical Icons Take the Stage

The month opens strong with violin virtuoso Anne-Sophie Mutter joined by piano legend Yefim Bronfman and rising cello star Pablo Ferrández on May 3 at the Balboa Theatre. Later in the month, international sensations Sheku and Isata Kanneh-Mason bring their sibling synergy to The Conrad for a powerful May 31 recital.

Unforgettable Organ + Film Collabs

Organist Cameron Carpenter makes his LJMS debut with not one but two genre-breaking shows at St. James by-the-Sea: a traditional organ recital on May 16, and a live score performance to the 1927 silent film Metropolis on May 17. If you’ve never heard a pipe organ roar through a movie before—this is your moment.

For the Jazz Lovers

Wynton Marsalis returns to San Diego on May 18 with The Louis Project—a fusion of silent film, live jazz, and storytelling that pays homage to the origins of jazz itself.
