Wild in the Country Returns to Lions Tigers & Bears’ Alpine Sanctuary

Lions Tigers & Bears is Southern California’s only accredited big cat and bear sanctuary, and Wild in the Country is their signature annual fundraising gala – held right on the grounds of their stunning 142-acre property in Alpine.

It’s a full afternoon and evening of food, live entertainment, and up-close animal experiences, all in support of one of San Diego County’s most important rescue organizations.

A Sanctuary Making a Real Difference for Rescued Exotic Animals

Home to more than 60 rescued lions, tigers, bears, and other exotic animals, Lions Tigers & Bears has been providing permanent refuge since 2002.

Many of these animals were saved from abuse, neglect, or illegal ownership, and the sanctuary offers each of them naturalistic habitats, specialized veterinary care, and enrichment programs designed to help them thrive.

Accredited by both the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and the American Sanctuary Association, the nonprofit also works alongside law enforcement and legislators to carry out complex rescues and advocate for stronger protections for captive wildlife. Wild in the Country is one of the key events that keeps all of this running.
