Team BEMER Wins Bicycle Race Across America
Team BEMER, a local 8-man cyclist race team (with an average age of 46!) just set a new record for winning the Race Across America (RAAM). Team BEMER won the race with a new world record of 5 days, 2 hours and 47 minutes. They were sponsored by Carlsbad company, BEMER.
A challenging race amazingly conquered
The RAAM team race event began in Oceanside, CA on June 18, 2022.
Team BEMER traversed three major mountain ranges and crossed four of the longest rivers in America to secure another first-place finish and world record time of 5 days, 2 hours, and 47 minutes!
For 35 years, RAAM has been challenging ultra cyclists from around the globe to push their physical and mental limits to the farthest reaches. Starting in Oceanside, under one of the longest piers in California, RAAM spans 3000 miles, climbs 175,000 feet, crosses 12 states, and finishes in Annapolis, Maryland.
The route travels west to east, traversing three major mountain ranges, crossing four of America’s longest rivers, and the Great Plains. The route passes through such iconic American landmarks as the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts, Monument Valley, Great Plains, and Gettysburg. Open to amateur and professional racers, the race has become a global icon, with over 35 countries represented.
