Discover Local Talent at The Conrad’s Courtyard Series
La Jolla Music Society’s popular Wu Tsai QRT.yrd Concert Series is coming back to The Conrad in La Jolla for its fifth year, bringing three free concerts that spotlight some of the region’s most exciting local talent.
From soulful jazz vocals to a violinist rewriting the rules, this season’s lineup proves great live music doesn’t have to come with a price tag.
A Voice That’s Traveled the World
Kicking things off is the Allison Adams Tucker Quartet, led by versatile jazz vocalist Allison Adams Tucker, whose multilingual performances have taken her to stages around the world.
Her debut album earned a Best Jazz Album nomination from the San Diego Music Awards, and she’s since shared the stage with names like Peter Sprague and Kamau Kenyatta. It’s a strong opening act for a season built on discovering fresh talent.

San Diego Jazz Legends Take Over
The Rob Thorsen Quartet ft. Special Guest Gilbert Castellanos brings San Diego jazz legends to take over the courtyard for this one, led by acclaimed bassist Rob Thorsen and joined by six-time San Diego Music Award winner Gilbert Castellanos on trumpet.
Between the two of them, this lineup brings some serious hometown jazz credibility to the stage. It’s the kind of pairing local jazz fans have been waiting to see together.

A Violinist Like No Other
The David Morales Boroff Quintet features violinist David Morales Boroff, described by Jazzwise as “highly-charged,” presenting his first program of entirely original music alongside four of San Diego’s finest musicians.
Expect a set that blends spontaneous improvisation with meticulous composition, unfolding like a story from start to finish. It’s a fitting way to close out the courtyard series with something bold and entirely new.

More Free Music, Now for Everyone
In addition to the courtyard series, the free Musical Preludes that precede Discovery Series concerts are now open to everyone, not just concert ticketholders.
Performed by top students from the Colburn School in Los Angeles, these preludes are a great way to catch rising talent ahead of the main event, with performances leading into the Poiesis Quartet and Luka Sternath concerts this fall.
