Birch Aquarium is gearing up to unveil “Embodied Pacific: Ocean Unseen,” a mind-bending exhibition that’ll have us seeing the ocean in a whole new light. This isn’t just any old fish tank—it’s where science meets art in the coolest way possible.

With 18 artists bringing 10 mind-bending projects to life, this exhibition is set to be a sensory overload in the best possible way.

From Tule Boats to Digital Coral Reefs

Ever wanted to step inside a floating science lab? Now’s your chance! You’ll get to explore the recently retired FLIP vessel through a trippy video triptych. Or how about watching coral reefs evolve over time, projected onto 3D-printed structures?

And let’s not forget the Indigenous perspective. You’ll be able to unlock augmented reality stories about Kumeyaay ocean voyages, narrated by local artist and educator Stan Rodriguez. It’s a powerful reminder that science isn’t just about high-tech gadgets—it’s also about the wisdom passed down through generations.
