Sima Jo Benson, Signs of Blue, 2020. Oil on canvas, 51″ x 96″. 6/53

The exhibition, juried by John Seed, Aleah Chapin, and Timothy Robert Smith, explores the dynamic shifts in representational art that have been “disrupted” by abstraction, web-based imagery, and socio-political concerns in response to contemporary life.

As representational art continues to evolve, “More Disruption: Representational Art in Flux” invites you to engage with artworks that challenge traditional boundaries.

More Disruption: Representational Art in Flux
Carla Falb, Circus Circus, 2006. Oil on canvas, 42″ x 64″.

This exhibition of over 50 works, through various mediums and styles, offers a narrative on how contemporary issues influence artistic expression.

Each piece showcases how today’s artists must find the combination of subjects and individual hybrid styles that engage their artistic imagination, resulting in works that energize the flux of contemporary representational art.

This exhibition is inspired by juror John Seed’s book of the same name, as well as his earlier book “Disrupted Realism: Paintings for a Distracted World.”

David Fobes, Disruption of Innocence, 2023. Oil and paper mounted on board, 24.75″ x 35.75″.
