Art, Power, Equity and J. Walcher Communications Announce Final “Curator-in-Residence” Show

Get ready for a must-see art event! Art Power Equity (APE) and J. Walcher Communications (JWC) are closing their “Curator-in-Residence” series with the incredible David Mont Virgen, a San Diego/Tijuana-based artist, showcasing his mind-blowing exhibition “Time Sensitive.”

Metal, Metaphors, and Masterpieces

Mont Virgen’s work is all about turning metal into meaning. He’s taking this tough material and transforming it into something that speaks to our souls, exploring the twists and turns of the human experience.

It’s like he’s found a way to make metal as flexible as our own thoughts and emotions. Trust us, you’ve never seen sculpture and painting quite like this before.

A Night of Art and Insight

We’re marking our calendars for Saturday, August 24, from 6 PM to 9 PM. That’s when Mont Virgen will be giving an artist talk and reception at JWC’s historic Sherman Heights offices. It’s our chance to dive deep into the artist’s mind, sip on some drinks, and soak in the atmosphere of creativity.

This show is the grand finale of a series that’s been shaking up the San Diego art scene since 2021. What makes it special? Each artist picks the next one in line, creating a chain of talent that’s been unfolding before our eyes.

Mont Virgen got the nod from printmaker Kelvin Lopez, who was chosen by painter and fiber sculptor Katie Ruiz. It’s like a creative relay race, and we’re all winning.

Mont Virgen isn’t just any artist—he’s a globe-trotter whose work has graced galleries from Madrid to Mexico City, Milan to Paris. But he calls the vibrant Tijuana-San Diego corridor home, and that cross-border energy infuses every piece he creates.

Kamaal Martin, the brains behind APE, is thrilled with how the series has unfolded. “Empowering artists to choose their successors was a game-changer,” he tells us. And Jean Walcher of JWC? She’s loving how each new artist transforms their office space, making it a living, breathing gallery.
