Swing Dancing Returns to the Library’s Rooftop
Swing Dancing San Diego is bringing back one of downtown’s most unique dance nights, and it’s happening right on the rooftop terrace at San Diego Central Library. For years, dancers have been heading up to this spot twice a month to swing dance under the dome with some seriously beautiful downtown views as their backdrop.

Whether You’re Brand New or Already Know Your Moves
The evening kicks off with an introductory lesson, so first-timers can learn the basics before the open dance starts. It’s a welcoming crowd that spans all skill levels, which makes it easy to jump in without feeling like you need to be a pro.
Plus, there’s something about dancing outdoors with the city lights around you that makes the whole experience feel special.
Live Music on Select Nights Adds Another Layer
Throughout the year, Swing Dance Under the Dome invites local bands to perform, so you’re not always dancing to recorded tracks. Cobby Brzeski Quartet, Nightshade Navarro, The Garners, Chickenbone Slim, Uptown Rhythm Makers, and Mojo Workin’ are all on the schedule for 2026.
Those live music nights tend to draw even bigger crowds, so it’s worth checking which dates have bands lined up.

Getting There and Parking
The library’s underground garage offers free parking for the first two hours with validation on most days, but it’s smart to check the library’s website for any special event pricing that might be in effect. Weather permitting, this happens twice a month, so there are plenty of chances to make it part of your regular rotation.
See you there!
Great music, downtown views, and a community of dancers who want you there.
