It’s About to Snow in City Heights!
City Heights CDC is hosting its Winter Extravaganza at Teralta Park with 40 tons of real snow where children and families can play, build snowmen, and enjoy the holiday spirit right in City Heights.
Add local food vendors, holiday shopping from small businesses, live music and entertainment for all ages, and family-friendly activities throughout the day, and you’ve got a full afternoon of free community celebration.

Real Snow in San Diego
The snow is the centerpiece – 40 tons gives kids and families actual space to play rather than just a small pile for photos.
Building snowmen, having snowball fights, and experiencing winter weather without leaving San Diego creates memories that feel special, especially for kids who don’t get regular access to snow.
Local Vendors and Community Focus
Local food vendors mean you’re eating food made by people from the community, and holiday shopping from small businesses gives you gift options while supporting City Heights entrepreneurs.
The shopping component turns this into more than just entertainment – you can knock out some holiday gift-buying while supporting businesses that contribute to the neighborhood year-round.
Live music and entertainment for all ages create atmosphere throughout the day, and family-friendly activities ensure there’s something for everyone. The combination of snow play, food, shopping, music, and activities means you can spend the entire afternoon there without running out of things to do.
City Heights CDC has built this into an annual tradition – when the same organization hosts the same event year after year, they learn what works. This isn’t a first-time experiment; it’s a refined celebration that’s become part of the neighborhood’s holiday season.
