San Diego Opera’s 2026 Opera Ball: Spanish Flair in La Jolla
San Diego Opera is throwing its annual Opera Ball for All this May, and this year’s theme – Noche Sevillana, ¡Ole! – takes inspiration from two of this season’s beloved operas: The Barber of Seville and Carmen.
Event Chairs Veronica and Miguel Leff are hosting the evening at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, and it’s shaping up to be one of those nights where you actually want to dress up and stay late.

A Spanish-Themed Evening
The theme isn’t just window dressing – the whole night leans into Spanish culture with tapas, flamenco performances, and opera aria selections. You’ll enjoy dinner and dancing in the La Jolla Ballroom, and the vibe is designed to feel vibrant and celebratory rather than stuffy.
If you’ve been to previous Opera Balls, you know San Diego Opera knows how to throw a party that balances elegance with energy.
Café Momus After-Party
Once the main event wraps, there’s a Café Momus after-party for anyone who’s not ready to call it a night. Expect more tapas, a DJ, specialty drinks, and a looser atmosphere. It’s the kind of after-party that makes the ticket price feel worth it.
Supporting Learning and Engagement Programs
The evening benefits San Diego Opera’s Learning and Engagement programs, which bring opera education to schools and communities throughout the region. If you’re going to attend a fundraiser, it helps when the cause is something that genuinely expands access to the arts.
San Diego Opera’s education work reaches thousands of students every year, so your ticket goes toward something tangible.
Honoring Sarah B. Marsh-Rebelo and John Rebelo
This year’s Opera Ball honors Sarah B. Marsh-Rebelo and John Rebelo, longtime supporters of San Diego Opera who’ve been instrumental in the organization’s growth and community impact. It’s always nice when these events recognize people who’ve put in the work behind the scenes.
See you there!
