An Evening Worth Showing Up For: The Phillip Collum Scholarship Fundraiser
Some events are worth clearing your schedule for – not just because they’re a good time, but because the cause behind them genuinely matters. The Phillip Alonzo Collum Scholarship Fund fundraiser is one of those nights.

A Legacy Rooted in Compassion
Phillip Collum served as Assistant Chief of Police at the Chula Vista Police Department and Chairman of the Board at Missiongathering Christian Church. But what set him apart was what he did on his own time.
Alongside his husband, William Lopez, he dedicated over a decade to the Corazon de Vida Foundation – making monthly visits to the Los Angelitos orphanage in Tijuana and forming real, lasting bonds with the kids there.
What the Scholarship Fund Does
The Phillip Alonzo Collum Scholarship Fund was created to fund university tuition for the orphaned youth of Baja California that Phillip personally mentored and loved over the years.
It operates under Corazon de Vida Foundation, which has supported over 500 children across 10 Baja California orphanages for 30 years – covering food, shelter, medical care, and educational support.
A Cause Worth Getting Behind
This fundraiser has a personal story at its center – a man who quietly gave of himself for years and left behind a community determined to carry his work forward.
Corazon de Vida is a registered 501(c)(3), so donations are fully tax deductible. Head to their website to learn more about the foundation before the event.
