Andaz San Diego Turns Into a Living Gallery for Art Alive Preview Weekend

Spring in San Diego means one thing for art lovers – Art Alive is almost here. And this year, we’re getting an early taste right in the heart of the Gaslamp.

Andaz San Diego is partnering with The San Diego Museum of Art to host a special Art Alive Preview Weekend, giving both locals and hotel guests the chance to experience the magic of this beloved exhibition before it takes over Balboa Park.

Art Alive Preview Andaz San Diego

A Floral Takeover in the Gaslamp

For one weekend, Andaz San Diego will transform into a living gallery filled with floral interpretations inspired by works of art.

If you’ve been to Art Alive before, you know the heart of the exhibition is its stunning arrangements created in response to specific pieces. This preview brings that creative energy downtown in a fresh, immersive way.

Original floral installations by Art Alive designers will be thoughtfully integrated throughout the hotel, drawing inspiration from artworks and even architectural elements within the space.

Expect striking arrangements and art-forward details woven into the property’s modern design, inviting us to slow down, wander, and take it all in.

It’s a unique opportunity to encounter art in unexpected places – from lobby moments to tucked-away corners – all blending creativity, design, and a strong sense of place.

Art Alive Preview Andaz San Diego

A Beloved Museum Tradition

Art Alive is now in its forty-fifth year and remains one of the Museum’s most cherished annual exhibitions and signature fundraisers. The full experience fills the galleries with floral interpretations of artworks from the Museum’s collection, pairing visual art with imaginative botanical design.

The Andaz preview offers an intimate introduction to the central element of Art Alive while building excitement for the larger exhibition at the Museum.

As the Official Hotel Partner of Art Alive 2026, Andaz is leaning into its design-driven identity and commitment to experiences that spark curiosity and celebrate creativity within our local community.

Located in the Gaslamp Quarter, Andaz San Diego reflects a global brand with a local perspective, and this collaboration feels right at home in a neighborhood that thrives on culture, nightlife, and energy.

Make it a Downtown Escape

If you’re planning to check out Art Alive at the Museum, Andaz San Diego is offering 20 percent off stays at the Gaslamp hotel during the Art Alive season. It’s the perfect excuse to turn an art-filled day into a full downtown escape, with walkable dining, rooftop views, and easy access to Balboa Park.

Between the preview at Andaz and the full-scale exhibition at The San Diego Museum of Art, this partnership is setting the tone for a creatively inspired spring across San Diego.

See you there!

We’ll be wandering through the floral installations, soaking up the design details, and getting in the Art Alive spirit before heading to Balboa Park for the main event.
