ArtReach San Diego Opens a New Community Art Studio in Hillcrest

ArtReach just dropped their latest masterpiece on the San Diego art scene—a brand new community art studio smack in the middle of Hillcrest! This 6,000 sq. ft. creative wonderland is set to revolutionize how we experience art in America’s Finest City.

Two Studios, Infinite Possibilities

The Sun Room Studio is a pint-sized paradise where three to 11-year-olds can let their imaginations run wild.

Next door, the Garage Studio offers a cool hangout for teens and adults to get hands-on with everything from sewing to rug tufting.

And let’s not forget the street-facing gallery window, turning Hillcrest into our very own 24/7 art showcase.

Bringing Art to the Masses

ArtReach San Diego is on a mission to make art accessible to everyone. With free and affordable workshops reaching over 2,100 budding artists annually, they’re not just teaching techniques—they’re building community, amplifying voices, and possibly uncovering San Diego’s next art world superstar.

Laurie Evans, the Sun Room Studio Manager, can barely contain her enthusiasm: “This project has been a vision for ArtReach for many years, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be entrusted as the Teaching Artist to bring it to life.” Her goal? Creating a judgment-free zone where kids can fully embrace their artistic sides.

Meanwhile, in the Garage Studio, Community Programs Manager Yasmine Kasem is equally pumped: “Facilitating art workshops and creating community around art making is an incredible experience. Especially as a Queer artist, creating an expressive environment within the neighborhood of Hillcrest is an honor.”

See you there!

From mini Monets to adults finally ready to try their hand at printmaking, ArtReach Community Art Studio has something for everyone. Keep an eye out for upcoming workshop schedules—this is one creative adventure you won’t want to skip!
