Carlsbad Music Festival Announces Additional Artists And Official Schedule For 17th Annual Festival

Carlsbad Music Festival is back with its 17th annual celebration of adventurous music by the beach, running Friday through Sunday, August 27 – 29, 2021. The Festival schedule has been announced and is accessible on the festival’s website here.

Newly Added Artists to the 2021 Carlsbad Music Festival

Trumpeter and composer, Steph Richards, of Steph Richards Power Vibe, who has steadily established herself as an engaging experimentalist on the jazz and creative music scenes.

Festival founder, composer, and violinist, Matt McBane, returns with new music for his instrumental band that straddles minimalist chamber music and instrumental post-rock.

San Diego-based jazz artists of the Charlie Arbeláez Afro-Cuban Sextet play music inspired by blues and Latin rhythms.

Local Jason Diaz is a jazz guitarist/arranger and pop vocalist/singer-songwriter.

The Get Down Boys are a staple in the Southern California Bluegrass scene.

Son de San Diego plays music from the southern region of Veracruz State in Mexico known as Son Jarocho.

Temecula-based Nathan & Jessie plays a blend of jazzy folk and blues.

Highlights of previously announced artists include:

Arooj Aftab performing her gorgeous new album “Vulture Prince” with an all-star band of Shahzad Ismaily and Gyan Riley.

The return of The Mattson 2, who since they last performed at the Festival have released a series of impressive records to critical acclaim and international audiences.

Also returning is the Calder Quartet, who have been closely associated with the Festival since its beginning, and who have continued to raise their playing to exquisite new heights.

The Festival is looking forward to welcoming Systems Officer, which is Zach Smith’s band — Smith is known for his work with Pinback and Three Mile Pilot — which has been releasing a series of terrific singles throughout the past year.

Your safety is still priority

All Festival venues are outdoor for COVID-19 safety and located in the Village of Carlsbad, with the Festival Hub on the lawn at St. Michael’s by-the-Sea featuring a craft beer garden, food trucks, an artisan market, and a playground for kids.
