What’s The Buzz? It’s World Bee Day at the Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum

The Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum is hosting a lively and educational World Bee Day celebration—and you’re invited to join the swarm.

Held in the beautiful Upper Garden area of the JFGM, this free community event shines a spotlight on the essential role bees play in keeping our ecosystems—and our food supply—healthy and thriving.

Expect a full day of family-friendly fun, live demos, and unforgettable encounters with some of nature’s most fascinating pollinators.

What to Expect

The celebration will bring together a fantastic lineup of Balboa Park and local partners—including the San Diego Beekeeping Society, San Diego Natural History Museum, Air & Space Museum, CA Native Plant Society, Hives for Heroes, and the SD Youth Symphony—for a vibrant showcase of bee-related exhibits and activities.

  • Live honey bees (our VIP guests!)
  • Microscopic observations
  • Bee-themed art and crafts
  • Live music by the SD Youth Symphony
  • Native plant and pollinator education
  • Hands-on activities for all ages

See you there!

Whether you’re a lifelong nature lover or just curious to learn more, this is a fun, purposeful way to celebrate the power of pollinators and learn how you can help protect them.
