Farm-Fresh Street Tacos at Fox Point
We’ve discovered our new favorite taco spot, and trust us when we say these aren’t your average street tacos. Huerta taco has just opened its doors at Fox Point, bringing us a fresh take on Mexican street food that’s literally grown right around the corner.
From Pop-Up Star to Taco Queen
If you’ve been following San Diego’s food scene, you’ll recognize Chef Lety Gonzalez’s name. After making waves as Executive Chef at Uptown Tavern and winning hearts with her Brujas Cocina pop-up during the pandemic (those handmade tortillas and tamales still haunt our dreams), she’s now bringing her magic to this open-air taco paradise.
Tacos That Tell a Story
Each handcrafted beauty comes wrapped in a corn tortilla that’s infused with sunflower petals (how’s that for local flair?). The menu features four standout options:
- Kohlrabi Adobada with banana leaf and achiote compressed kohlrabi, topped with jamaica-pickled red onions
- Baja Beer Battered Fish featuring the catch of the day in Fox Point Brewing beer batter
- Carnitas with pork confit and pickled jamaica red onions
- Smoked Brisket Barbacoa crowned with salsa negra and quelites mix
