Pick up Local Produce at Navore’s New Mission Valley Hub

Mission Valley just landed a new way to eat local. Navore Market is teaming up with the YMCA of San Diego County to launch a new community pickup hub at the Mission Valley YMCA – and it’s the easiest excuse yet to skip the grocery run and support local farms at the same time.

The USDA-backed platform (yes, actually backed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture) has been building a smarter way to get us food that’s grown right here in San Diego, direct from the folks who grow it. This Mission Valley hub is the second of its kind in the county, and both members and non-members of the YMCA are equally welcome.

Local Farms, One Sunday Stop

Here’s how the whole thing works. Navore is an online marketplace where we can browse and order directly from San Diego farmers and producers. The growers do the growing and packing, drop off orders at the Navore aggregation hub, and we roll in for a pickup. No middleman markup, no long-haul supply chain, no wilted lettuce from three states away.

The Mission Valley hub joins Navore’s La Jolla location – a small but growing footprint making local produce more accessible across the county.

300 Oranges a Week for the Camp Kids

To celebrate the launch, Navore is donating 300 locally grown oranges every week to Mission Valley YMCA summer camp participants. That’s fresh produce straight into the hands of the next generation of San Diegans, which lines up cleanly with the YMCA’s mission of nurturing healthy spirit, mind, and body.

“Partnering with the YMCA to bring this hub to Mission Valley is a milestone for Navore and for San Diego’s local food community,” says founder and CEO Caroline Driehaus. Backing from the USDA Local Food Promotion Program is what’s making the network expansion possible.
