Rooftop Cinema Club Keeps Moviegoers On The Edge Of Their Seats Through Halloween

Rooftop Cinema Club Embarcadero at the Manchester Grand Hyatt has rolled out their latest schedule, and it will keep moviegoers on the edge of their seats through Halloween! Tickets for all films through Halloween are now on sale!

The Date Night Special

Rooftop Cinema Club, which has seen record crowds pass through its turnstiles all Summer long, is also extending the excitement by releasing a new special Date Night promotion through September.

The Date Night Special includes two Adirondack chairs + popcorn for $35 (a $12 savings). The offer is valid for all screenings Sept. 6-30 and seats must be purchased in pairs.

The Date Night Special will be listed as a ticket type on each screening’s checkout page. The bundled price applies to both peak and non-peak screenings. Individual Adirondack tickets will remain $23.50 for peak screenings and $22.50 for off-peak showings.

Cult classics under the stars

The September-October slate at San Diego’s iconic outdoor cinema includes the Rooftop Cinema Club staple of cult classics and recent releases, complemented by special events and themes that include People’s Choice films, sing-alongs, pet-friendly screenings, movies that are celebrating a noteworthy anniversary, open-caption films, and others centered around signs of the Zodiac. The schedule also includes films that celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and, of course, Halloween.

The lineup from Sept. 8-Oct. 31 is available online here.

Love It or Hate It series

Saturdays in September, Rooftop Cinema Club will shine a spotlight on some of cinema’s most divisive movies, featuring comedies that critics just didn’t get. It’s an ambitious, visionary feast that’s “not for everyone,” and just a plain ol’ good time at the movies that some “no fun” snobs felt the need to scoff at.

People’s Choice

This September, Rooftop Cinema Club is giving its guests the choice of which female coming-of-age movie to screen at the Rooftop! In this aptly named “Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” edition of People’s Choice, San Diego film fans will be able to vote for the movie they’d like to see HERE.

Voting closes Aug. 31 and the winning film will be announced on Sept. 1. And in October, just in time for Halloween, RCC Embarcadero fans will get to choose which horror movie sequel they’d like to see at the Rooftop! Voting for the scary sequel will be available HERE.

The polls will close on Oct. 6 and the winning film will be announced Oct. 7.

Hispanic Heritage Month

For Hispanic Heritage Month, Rooftop Cinema Club is showcasing some of the most beloved cinema stories centered around and celebrating Hispanic culture, as well as movies made by prominent Hispanic filmmakers and actors. Hispanic Heritage Month films include Selena (Sept. 15), Encanto (Sept. 25) and Coco (Oct. 1).

Virgo/Libra/Scorpio Season

There’s a new tradition at Rooftop Cinema Club centered around the signs of the Zodiac. From Sept. 7-22, RCC is celebrating Virgo Season by screening movies made by or starring cinephiles’ favorite cinematic Virgos, including Keanu Reeves, Keke Palmer, and Ingrid Bergman.

From Sept. 23 – Oct. 22, Rooftop Cinema Club will recognize Libra Season by screening movies made by or starring notable cinematic Libras, including Zac Efron, Anthony Gonzalez, the beloved Olivia Newton-John and several others.

And from Oct. 23 – Nov. 22, San Diegans can celebrate Scorpio Season and cinematic Scorpios, including Winona Ryder and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Horrifying Anniversary Celebrations

“Before you die, you see… the ring.” The terrifying psychological horror movie that made everyone scared to watch VHS tapes (if you remember what those were) is turning 20 this year, and Rooftop Cinema Club is celebrating The Ring in all its scary glory with a special anniversary screening at the Rooftop on Oct. 6.

And it’s been 25 years since I Know What You Did Last Summer cemented itself among the best ’90s slasher hits. Housing a quartet of almost and soon-to-be young stars, this scary tale of revenge hasn’t lost any of its potency since it hit screens all those years ago and Rooftop Cinema Club is bringing it back to life on Oct. 24.

Witches Weekender

“Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble.”

For the penultimate weekend in October, Rooftop Cinema Club Embarcadero is mixing a potion together of movies that feature the most fun, scary, and awesome witches. It’ll take place Oct. 22-23 and feature films like Practical Magic, The Craft, The Addams Family, and of course, The Blair Witch Project.

Hocus Pocus Madness

“Come, we fly!” Over the years watching Hocus Pocus during the Halloween season has become a tradition for everyone and Rooftop Cinema Club is no exception.

This year, San Diego’s iconic outdoor cinema is taking that tradition a bit further by dedicating an entire day on Sunday, Oct. 30 to screenings of the modern classic so guests can come for a screening or watch it again and again all day long!

Rooftop Cinema Club is providing a double dose of Halloween classics (it’s literally in their titles!) on All Hallows Eve with screenings of the family favorite Halloweentown and the chilling slasher Halloween.

See you there!

Rooftop Cinema Club is located at the Manchester Grand Hyatt (1 Market Place, San Diego, 92101) on the open-air 4th Floor Sport Terrace of the Harbor Tower with stunning skyline views.
