7 Things You Need to Know if You’re Going to the San Diego County Fair

Planning a trip to the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar? Here’s what you need to know before you go!

Because we want to keep your summer stress to a minimum (we care!), we’ve narrowed it down to a list of seven simple things you need to know about the San Diego County Fair 2025.

1. Dates and Times

The San Diego County Fair is happening from June 11 to July 6 (although it is closed every Monday and Tuesday).

Gates open at 11 AM and close at 10 PM each day. Exhibit buildings, shopping halls, and Family Funville close at 10 PM, while bars close at 10:30 PM. Many activities—like rides and games—stay open after the gates close for the night. Click here for details.

2. Tickets

Tickets are sold by date. Kids 5 and under are free every day. Save on admission and parking by buying at least 24 hours in advance. Get your tickets here.

You can also purchase in person.

3. This Year’s Theme: Summer Pet-acular

This summer, celebrate the special bond between humans and pets at the Fair’s Summer Pet-acular, featuring themed exhibits and pet adoptions in partnership with the San Diego Humane Society.

Note that while this is a pet-themed celebration, pets are not allowed on the fairgrounds.

4. Concerts

Toyota Summer Concert Series

As the summer sun sets over the Pacific, the Ferris Wheel lights up the Corona Grandstand Stage at the Fair, hosting the Toyota Summer Concerts Series. This lineup features a mix of classic and emerging artists, appealing to diverse music lovers.

These concerts include same-day admission to the Fair.

Paddock Concert Series Sponsored by Chevrolet

Experience the Party in the Paddock at the San Diego County Fair this summer with nationally acclaimed entertainment promising a great time! The party starts every evening at 9 PM.

The Chevrolet Paddock Concert Series is FREE with a same-day Fair ticket.

5. Exhibits and Interactive Opportunities

Theme Exhibit

This year’s theme exhibit, called “Pets Rock: Live on Tour, presented by Kahoots,” takes us through the world from a pet’s perspective. Seven Rock Band members will lead us on an adventure, through their animal eyes, where they might play with a giant ball of yarn, “swim” through an aquarium castle, or sit in a bird’s nest.

The exhibit will also feature educational programming, adoptable animals, and speakers from the San Diego Humane Society.

In addition, Kahoots pet store will feature a mini store and have staff onsite to talk about pet food, toys, and care products.

Pet Pavilion

This spacious, grassy field in Family Funville hosts pet rescue groups eager to introduce adoptable animals to potential families, alongside informational demonstrations by veterinarians, skilled trainers, and impressive K-9 units, offering valuable insights into pet care and activities.

Puppy Yoga

Yogis will be able to get a “biiig stretch” in at Puppy Yoga at The Sound at 10 AM on June 29 and July 6. The 45-minute yoga class includes instruction by Samara Ariel, followed by 15 minutes of cuddles with adoptable puppies!

Advance registration is required, and a portion of the proceeds benefits partnering rescue organizations. Register here.

6. Summer Nights at The Sound

Summer evenings heat up with glow-in-the-dark lasers, side-splitting comedy, and can’t-find-it-anywhere-else entertainment at Summer Nights at the Sound. Cesar Milan will even be making an appearance!

Tickets include same-day admission to the Fair.

More info here.

7. The Food!!!

It wouldn’t be a trip to the fair without the amazing food. Use the Food Map below to find everything from fresh to fried, sweet to savory!

There is also a series of food events—including beer and wine tastings—that you can learn more about by clicking here.

See you there!

We hope this list helps you, your family, and your friends enjoy the fair!

See you there, San Diego!
