A World Cup-Inspired Installation is Coming to Liberty Station
Arts District Liberty Station is bringing one of the most visually striking public art moments of the year to the North Promenade. Tejiendo Redes – Weaving Nets – is a large-scale installation by acclaimed Mexican visual artist Betsabeé Romero, presented in collaboration with Arts District Liberty Station and the General Consulate of Mexico in San Diego.
This is its first San Diego showing, and the timing couldn’t be more fitting.

One Goalpost, Two Cities
The installation takes the form of a monumental goalpost crafted entirely from woven nets – but it’s only half of one. The concept imagines the other half extending across the border into Tijuana, turning a single sculpture into a statement about connection, community, and what sport makes possible between people on either side of a line.
For a city like San Diego, where the relationship with Tijuana runs deep, it lands with particular resonance.
Summer Arts Fest
Tejiendo Redes will serve as the centerpiece of Summer Arts Fest at Liberty Station – a free outdoor celebration of art, music, and community featuring live performances, local artists and makers, food, and drinks. It’s the kind of afternoon that captures what this neighborhood does best.

See you there!
A cross-border collaboration, a World Cup moment, and a free summer festival all in one place – Tejiendo Redes is worth making the trip to Liberty Station.
