Giddy Up, San Diego! Wilma’s Carousel Bar is Ready to Take You for a Spin
Hold on to your drinks, folks! There’s a new spot in town that’s sending the San Diego bar scene for a spin—literally.
Wilma’s Carousel Bar is galloping into Little Italy, revamping the former Wolfie’s Carousel Bar, and now under management by SDCM, the talent behind San Diego hotspots Kettner Exchange, Camino Riviera, and The Whaling Bar.
If you have never been to Wolfie’s, let us set the scene: imagine sipping your favorite cocktail while slowly revolving around a bar built within a hand-carved German carousel originally built in 1881 by master carver and builder Charles I.D. Looff.
Sounds like a dream, right? Well, pinch yourselves because this merry-go-round for grown-ups is 100% real.
Grandma Wilma’s Legacy Lives On
This isn’t just any old bar with a gimmick. Wilma’s is a love letter to owner Matt Spencer’s grandmother, the namesake and muse behind this whimsical wonderland. We’re betting Grandma Wilma was one cool lady to be the namesake of such a unique concept.
And unique it is! Did you know there are only two carousel bars in the entire United States? That’s right, San Diego just joined a very exclusive club. Move over, regular barstools—we’re all about that merry-go-round life now.
See you there!
Whether you’re looking for a fun first date spot, a place to impress out-of-town guests, or just somewhere to shake up your usual happy hour routine, Wilma’s has got you covered. Just remember, if the room starts spinning, it might not be the drinks—you’re probably just on the carousel!
Ready to take this pony for a test run? Wilma’s Carousel Bar is opening its doors (and starting its motors) on August 21. Reservations are now open, so grab your spot here.

So, what do you say, San Diego? Are you ready to take life for a spin at Wilma’s Carousel Bar? We sure are!
See you there, San Diego!
