Mountain High Resorts Now Open

Winter has arrived in Southern California and Mountain High Resorts is now open for the 2019-2020 snow season. A destination for Southern California’s winter thrill-seekers since the 1920s, Mountain High will offer more ways than ever before to enjoy the slopes such as skiing, snowboarding, tubing, sledding, snow biking and snowshoeing.

OPENING DAY HOURS + ACTIVITIES

Mountain High’s West Resort will open at 7 a.m. for skiers and snowboarders, and lifts will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., with access to Upper Chisolm, Lower Chisolm, Cruiser and Sunnyside runs.

At Mountain High’s East Base Resort, Yeti’s Snow Park will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. for sledding and snow play. Mountain High’s opening day will include live broadcasts from local radio stations, ticket and swag giveaways and DJs throughout the day. Guests should keep their eyes peeled for the Yeti and his friends as they traverse throughout the snow park interacting with fans.

GETTING THERE

Mountain High is Southern California’s closest winter resort with no mountain driving. Find the most up-to-date information on road conditions here.

• Mountain High is a 90-minute drive from Los Angeles. Take I-10 or CA-60 to I-15. Exit at CA-138 to CA-2 and drive three miles through the town of Wrightwood.
• Mountain High is 75 minutes from Orange County. Take CA-91 to I-15. Exit at CA-138 to CA-2 and drive three miles through the town of Wrightwood.
• Mountain High is a 2-hour and 15-minute drive from San Diego. Take I-15 to CA-138 to CA-2 and drive three miles through the town of Wrightwood.
• From San Fernando and Antelope Valleys, Mountain High is 40 minutes from the junction of CA-14 and CA-138. Take I-5 to CA-14 to the Pearblossom exit on CA-138. Turn right on Largo Vista and follow the signs to Mountain High.

Mountain High hosts special activities throughout the season and offers daily lessons for all ages from beginner to advanced levels of skiing and snowboarding. After opening weekend, guests can enjoy these upcoming events. More information can be found at mthigh.com.

Thanksgiving Weekend | Scenic Sky Chair Rides

This Thanksgiving weekend, enjoy an aerial view of the Angeles National Forest. From Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 1, take the Scenic Sky Chair for $25 to the top of the East Resort, viewing Catalina Island and the Mojave Desert from 8,200 feet above sea level. Atop the mountain guests can enjoy a fresh-air nature hike or meal at the Grand View Lodge.

Saturday, December 15 | Santa Sunday Charity Run

An annual Mountain High tradition, skiers and snowboarders can get into the holiday spirit while benefiting a worthy cause on Santa Sunday. Guests dressed in Santa Claus suits can pre-register online and receive a full-day lift ticket for a $20 donation (to be paid online or upon arrival at the resort). All donations collected from the hundreds of participating Santas will be donated to Southern California Mountains Foundation.

21 Saturday, December 21 | Peanut Butter and Rail Jam

Sponsored by Pharmacy Boardshop and Volcom, the Rail Jam is a treat for both participants and spectators alike. Free to enter with the purchase of a lift ticket, this freestyle contest at the West Resort’s terrain park allows contestants to showcase their best tricks and will award prizes to the top three finishers. Watch the action from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday or participate by registering on-site before 9 a.m.

January | Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month

This initiative encourages youth and adults to learn a new sport through special lessons and packages throughout the month of January. Mountain High encourages guests to bring a friend in January for midweek beginner lessons for two for the price of one (including lift tickets and rental equipment).

Mountain High also offers its “123-Free” lesson package throughout the season, providing the best way to learn how to schuss down the slopes. When participants complete three lessons – which come with rentals and lower-mountain lift tickets – they will receive a season pass to take their skills to the next level.
