Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest in San Diego
Dig the lederhosen and dirndl out of the closet and grab your best stein. It’s that time of year again for the most famous German tradition: Oktoberfest!
And given our city’s love of beer, you have a lot of options to celebrate Oktoberfest in San Diego. Here’s a guide to help you plan your celebration!
Ocean Beach Oktoberfest | October 10–11
Ocean Beach Oktoberfest is coming back with its biggest setup yet—a doubled beachfront footprint where Newport meets the beach for two days of 21+ festival action. The event features live music and contests on the Jägermeister Main Stage plus high-energy DJ sets at the Buzz Cannabis Electronica Stage.
The expanded footprint should give you more room to actually enjoy the festival without feeling packed in like sardines. What’s cool is the community impact—they’ve given back over $50,000 annually and $800,000 total to date, so your lederhosen-wearing good time is actually contributing to Ocean Beach.
The beachfront location combined with the expanded space should make this feel less like a typical packed festival and more like an actual beach party with German beer and unbeatable drink specials.

📆 Friday, October 10 & Saturday, October 11
📍 5099 Newport Avenue San Diego

La Mesa Oktoberfest | October 3–5
La Mesa Village is about to become your new favorite weekend destination with three full days of authentic Oktoberfest vibes.
We’re talking three different biergartens each with their own personality—the Hofbräuhaus Biergarten for that classic Munich beer hall feel, Palm Avenue Bier Hall if you want something more chill, and the Craft Bier & Spirits Garden mixing local brews with German imports.
The Dachshund Races are back, and honestly, watching those little sausage dogs sprint might be the best part of your weekend.
The festival is free to get in, but VIP passes get you commemorative steins, those ridiculous chicken hats we all secretly love, and some complimentary beers. It’s one of those events that actually works for families without feeling forced about it.

📆 Friday, October 3–Sunday, October 5
📍 8273 La Mesa Blvd, La Mesa

San Diego Oktoberfest Party Cruise | October 3
Bahia Belle is taking Oktoberfest to the water with a three-hour party cruise on Mission Bay. The evening features festive beers, Bavarian-inspired bites including a bratwurst station and giant pretzel with mustard dip and beer cheese, plus entertainment that goes beyond just drinking and dancing.
The beer stein holding contest brings that classic Oktoberfest competition element, while a live DJ keeps the energy up throughout the night. There’s also a photo booth on board for capturing those festive moments.
At $25+ per person with “Buy More, Save More” pricing, it’s positioned as an affordable way to celebrate Oktoberfest while cruising around Mission Bay. The cash bar setup means you’re paying for drinks separately from the ticket price, so factor that into your budget planning.
The combination of cruise setting and Oktoberfest theme creates something different from typical land-based celebrations.

Encinitas Oktoberfest | September 28
This 29th annual celebration is completely free, family-friendly, and one of our favorite North County traditions, combining German heritage with California coastal vibes.
The Moonlight Veterinary Center Dog Costume Contest might be the most adorable competition we’ll see all year.
Two beer gardens serve authentic German brews plus local craft favorites from Societe Brewing, Burgeon Beer Co., RationAle Brewing, and Fox Point Brewing. The coolest addition is Tap Truck serving Karl Strauss and Viewpoint Brewing from a vintage 1921 Buick.
Tarantino’s Gourmet Sausage and Taste of Poland bring authentic bratwurst, schnitzel, and pretzels, while over 125 local artisan vendors create a lively marketplace.

One Paseo is bringing Bavarian-style celebration to SoCal with Oktoberfest on The Lawn by Harland. The afternoon features 12 craft beer pours, including locally curated brews from Harland, plus wine and spirits alongside German-inspired bites with a One Paseo twist.
The $40 ticket includes your tasting flight, plate lunch, snacks, and live music, which is solid value for an afternoon of entertainment. Live music and beer-hall games keep things lively, while a costume contest adds that festive atmosphere people expect from Oktoberfest celebrations.
The Munich-meets-SoCal concept works well for One Paseo’s upscale shopping center vibe—you get traditional German fare but with that polished Del Mar presentation. The four-hour timeframe keeps it manageable for an afternoon celebration without overstaying its welcome.
