City Tacos

Congrats to City Tacos, which is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with its grand 10th-anniversary on Saturday, May 4, at its Ocean Beach location OB Playground!

City Tacos 10th Anniversary

Doors open an hour earlier than normal, at 10 AM, and the family-friendly day includes complimentary face painting for kids, stilt walkers, a mariachi band, and a pug meet-up (the mascot of the eatery that first opened in North Park in 2014).

Everyone who brings a pug from 10 AM to 12 PM will receive a free taco. In addition, you can enjoy the 10th-anniversary special of two tacos and a beer for $10 throughout the day.

Take part in the celebrations happening at Casa Guadalajara, Casa de Pico and Casa de Bandini on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Casa Guadalajara
Saturday, May 4 & Sunday, May 5: It’s a two-day fiesta at Casa Guadalajara!

Enjoy live music and dance performances on both days from 12 PM until 8 PM. Try the famous “esquites,” or Mexican street corn, and refresh with some aguas frescas and jarritos at the street taco stand.

Face painting will also be available throughout the day to help you show some Mexican spirit.

Casa de Pico is getting a head start on Cinco de Mayo celebrations with live trios and mariachis and special giveaways on tequilas like Monte Alban, Espolon, Patron and Cazadores, and beers, including Pacifico and Model Especial, from Friday through Sunday throughout the day.

Get in the spirit with the Enchiladas Bandera—a mix of chicken, beef, and cheese enchiladas with salsa verde, salsa roja, and a creamy jalapeno sauce only available on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

On Cinco de Mayo, every hour is happy hour at Casa de Bandini. With live entertainment starting at 11 AM, the fiesta doesn’t stop until closing time.

In addition to the limited-time Mexican street food stands and the all-day specials, there is the “Mayorita,” their famous margarita blended with guava puree, and the “Chamoy-Mangorita,” a mango-flavored margarita with a sweet and spicy chamoy drizzle.

Also, enjoy hourly specials on tequilas like Cazadores, Don Julio, Casa Noble, and Casamigos.


Puesto

Puesto, the award-winning family-owned Mexican restaurant with multiple locations in San Diego, is known for its additive-free margaritas, and tacos with crispy melted cheese making it the perfect place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo!

All Puesto’s tacos are handmade with non-GMO heirloom blue corn tortillas and each of Puesto’s salsas is made from scratch. A few menu highlights include:

Newly opened Rumorosa is hosting a festive Cinco de Mayo celebration on Sunday, May 5. The waterfront restaurant will feature a selection of $4 street tacos including Chicken Tinga, Fish, Carne Asada, Pork Carnitas, and Birria in addition to its everyday menu of Cali-Baja-inspired dishes.

A curated selection of wines from the Valle de Guadalupe will be available for 20% off per bottle from noon to 10 PM.

For those looking to enhance their Mezcal IQ, Rumorosa will also host live music and a “meet the maker” experience with Southern California-founded Hedonistas de la Fe, featuring tastings from the distiller’s signature line of small-batch mezcals from 12 PM to 4 PM.

The experience is priced at $70, including takeaway jicara cups, and will feature three 4 oz tastings of Hedonista Tobala, Hedonista Cuishe, and Hedonista Tepeztate.

Quiero Restaurants

Quiero Restaurants, which shares a space with Mike Hess Brewing at Seaport Village and in Imperial Beach, is offering a special on Cinco de Mayo of two Mike Hess Fish Tacos and a pint for $12.

The fish tacos feature battered Basa catfish topped with cabbage and pico de gallo, finished with chipotle-and-lime aioli on a flour tortilla.

Choose from a Mike Hess tap list that includes Into the Sunset Blood Orange IPA, Steel Beach American Lager, and Grazias Amber Ale.


Sandbar Sports Bar & Grill

Sandbar Sports Bar & Grill in Mission Beach will be celebrating Sunday, May 5, with specialty tacos and tequila, as well as $5 Tecates and $5 Mexican Candy shots. You can also participate in Guac on the Rock, a program put on by Teremana Tequila.

Anyone who comes in and buys Sandbar’s House Made Guacamole with avocado, onion, pico de gallo, lime juice, and house chips can save their receipt and submit it to a website or QR code, and the Rock will reimburse a certain amount.

Sandbar will also be serving their award-winning TKO Tacos, made with your choice of protein, chipotle aioli, escabeche slaw, lime crema, spicy guacamole, crispy onion strings, fried cilantro, and a cotija-crusted flour tortilla.

Novo Brazil Brewing Company

Chula Vista’s Novo Brazil Brewing Company is hosting a family-friendly Cinco de Mayo celebration on the patio of its Lane Avenue headquarters on Saturday, May 4, from 4:30 PM to 10 PM. The party is free to attend and includes music by DJ Santamaria.

Vendors on site selling food will be Aldo al Forno Pizza, La Maja Paella, PotioN7 Creamery, and Tijuana’s Tortas Washmobile by Pedro Fuentes.

The Padres game against the Arizona Diamondbacks will be shown on the large LED screen beginning at 5:10 PM, and kids can enjoy a bouncy castle and other activities.


Barrio Star

Join Barrio Star for Cinco de Mayo, celebrating on both Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, for a weekend-long fiesta! Toast to the holiday with a shot of house tequila and a beer for $15.

Pair with tacos a la carte prepared with house-made tortillas, chips, and the eatery’s infamous tomatillo salsa, and finish off the night with an order of housemade churros.


The Smoking Gun

The Smoking Gun is preparing for a Taco Bell-inspired Cinco de Mayo weekend, with specials running from Friday, May 3, through Sunday, May 5!

The Gaslamp Quarter’s beacon for fun, great food, and outstanding cocktails for over a decade, barleymash is prepared for an unforgettable Cinco de Mayo celebration!

Partnering with Espolon Tequila, specialty cocktails will be available with both Espolon Blanco and Espolon Reposado. Pair with delicious elevated bar fare like the San Diego Iron Fries with red-chili braised short rib, pepper-jack beer cheese sauce, sour cream, spicy guacamole, and salsa fresca!


Miguel’s Cocina
