Little Italy Favorite Cloak & Petal Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary

This March, Little Italy favorite Cloak & Petal is celebrating their five-year anniversary! Congrats!

Since opening in 2018, Cloak & Petal has won the hearts (and stomachs) of San Diegans with their Asian-fusion dishes, creative maki sushi rolls and cocktails, and one of the most unique environments in San Diego.

Tokyo Underground

The iconic cherry blossom tree overhanging the center bar has drawn in guests, and the curious walking through Little Italy, into their Tokyo underground-themed venue with graffiti covered walls, avant-garde art, and dance-worthy tunes since the restaurant’s opening.

But in June 2022, owner Cesar Vallin stepped up the creativity to another level when he revealed an open dining and lounge space in the back half of Cloak & Petal, named Shibuya Nights.

Covered in neon – murals, booth covers, couches, bar tops, signs, and more – the space incorporate colors and art influenced by the exciting and eclectic Harajuku district!

New flavors to explore

To kick off the new year, Cloak & Petal welcomed a new executive chef, Robert Cassidy, who previously spent over 20 years honing his craft at Sushi on the Rock.

In the next few months, Chef Robert will be revamping the menu and introducing new flavor profiles and combinations for guests to explore!
