Light, Shadow, and the Art of Perception: “Light Made Visible” Opens at The 3rd Space

Light Made Visible, the latest 3rd Space Gallery exhibition, brings together two of San Diego’s most compelling multidisciplinary artists for a poetic exploration of light, memory, and form.

Through the lens of photography and the stroke of a paintbrush, this powerful exhibit invites viewers to experience how contrast, structure, and emotion emerge as light becomes visible.

Opening Night Vibes

The opening night reception sets the tone with a live DJ set from Fotakis, bites by Graze, cider from Bivouac, wine, cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere that blends creative energy and community. It’s more than just an art show—it’s a full sensory experience.

The Art of Light

Presented by artists JenMarie Landig and Maha Bazzari, Light Made Visible explores the interplay between brightness and shadow across architectural, figurative, and abstract works.

Landig’s photographs and Bazzari’s paintings work in harmony to reflect the rhythm of the day—how light shapes spaces, perception, and even emotion. These visuals ask us to consider the cycles of life: the vibrant beginnings, the quiet middle, and the eventual fade.

Whether sharp or blurred, radiant or subdued, the exhibition encourages us to ask: What places, colors, and forms hold meaning for us? And what remains when the light dims?
