There’s so much to see at San Diego Museums, and during the month of February the San Diego Museum Council is making it easy to visit your favorites by offering half-price admission. Simply pick up a 50% off pass at any public library in San Diego County starting January 26 and bring it to a participating museum from February 1-28.

Mission San Luis Rey is among the largest of California’s 21 Spanish missions, and it shows the significance of Spanish influence in the state’s history. San Diego Museum Month is in February (1/2 price admission to 60 participating museums!) and there’s no better time to explore some museum jewels in the San Diego’s East County communities. They’re certainly a great way to discover East County.
Barona Cultural Center & Museum
San Diego’s only museum on an Indian reservation dedicated to the perpetuation and presentation of local Native-American culture. Exhibits include handmade pottery, reed baskets, paintings, arrowheads and other artifacts dating as far back as 10,000 years!
Heritage of the Americas Museum
Located on the campus of Cuyamaca College in Rancho San Diego, the Museum is a cultural and educational center featuring the prehistoric and historic art and culture of the Americas and natural history of the world.
Pacific Southwest Railway Museum

Located in Campo, California, is about an hour east from San Diego. This museum is a must-see destination for railroad enthusiasts and for families seeking a memorable day trip. Take a scenic ride in a historic refurbished train car through the mountains and desert.
The La Mesa Depot Museum is La Mesa, California’s oldest building in its original form and is the sole surviving San Diego and Cuyamaca Railway Station in existence.
The Museum transports visitors back in time to when lemon orchards and packing houses were the lifeblood of the city.
Nearly six acres of displays that showcase water conservation through a series of beautiful themed gardens, such as a native plant garden and a vegetable garden, as well as how-to displays such as mulch and irrigation exhibits.

Arts District Liberty Station & Point Loma Museums

Nautical History Gallery & Museum
This gallery is a panoramic history of the U.S. Navy, its ships and how they have evolved over time from the Revolutionary War period, through the Civil War, into the Spanish-American War, then World War I and World War II, including the beginning of naval aviation.
The preservation and presentation of the immigrant experience in the United States is a central commitment of the New Americans Museum’s mission.

Community of quilt and textile artists, collectors and the public through exhibitions, education, and engaging programs that increase the appreciation of quilts, textiles and fiber as fine art.
Marine Corps Recruit Depot Command Museum

Bonita Museum & Cultural Center
Dedicated to documenting the art, history and culture of the Sweetwater Valley with over 2,000 objects connected to the region and a rotating selection of fine art sculpture, painting, photography, architecture, design and media arts.
Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center
The Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center is open for everyone to enjoy. Through our exhibitions, we educate individuals about Chicana/o, Latina/o, and Indigenous culture and history.

This zoo/aquarium focuses on animals native to Southern California, including endangered sea turtles, sharks, rays, reptiles, and an impressive range of birds, including owls, hawks, falcons, shorebirds and even an American Bald Eagle.
Nature lovers will want to make a visit to this special spot, located at the southern corner of the County in Imperial Beach. Stop by the Visitor Center, where you’ll find a variety of hands-on, interactive activities for all ages.

Coronado Museums
Who doesn’t love a drive over the iconic Coronado Bridge, with some of the best views in San Diego? Explore the history and culture of Coronado during Museum Month.

Old Town San Diego
The Junípero Serra Museum, in Presidio Park, is one of the most familiar landmarks in San Diego. You can learn about the history of the Missions in California and see artifacts, like Spanish furniture dating back to the Renaissance.
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park
Experience the history of early San Diego by providing a connection to the past. You can see the very first houses that formed the settlement of San Diego and learn about life in the Mexican and early American periods of 1821 to 1872. Plus it’s home to numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities.
Step back in time and enjoy a self-guided tour through the iconic Whaley House. Learn all about the integral role the famed house played in Old Town San Diego’s rich history. Museum Month passes are only good for the Daytime Self-Guided Tour, operating every day 10AM-4PM and cannot be used for the Evening Guided Tours or the Paranormal Tour. Passes must be presented only at the museum door or at the Whaley House Museum Shop; they are not redeemable at any Old Town Trolley ticket booth or used for online sales.

Presents the history of San Diego’s police department. It has a wonderful collection of artifacts dating from the late 1800s to the present. Vintage photos, badges, uniforms, clothing, police equipment, journals, letters, books… everything related to law enforcement in San Diego.

Museums without Walls
“Museum Without Walls” features online virtual exhibits that are easily accessible to all people. Additionally, the museums reach out into the community with important physical exhibitions and events throughout the year.
San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art
The Museum’s mission is to present and preserve the art of African Americans globally and to broaden the knowledge and understanding of the visual arts in Southern California generally and San Diego specifically by collecting, preserving and displaying works of art by and about African Americans.
