Lions Tigers and Bears Launches New School Field Trip Program
Lions Tigers and Bears is rolling out a new education curriculum designed specifically for elementary school students, and it’s one of those field trip experiences that actually sticks.
The NGSS Academic Field Trips program is built around real-world learning – animal adaptations, ecosystems, conservation – and it’s aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and Association of Zoos and Aquariums accreditation guidelines, which means it’s not just fun, it’s legitimately educational.

Structured Learning That Feels Like an Adventure
The two-hour program includes a guided sanctuary tour, structured learning stations, hands-on activities, and a conservation action reflection. Students get to see how animals live in an accredited sanctuary versus in the wild, and they learn about animal care and welfare in a way that’s interactive rather than lecture-based.
It’s the kind of setup where kids are engaged the whole time, asking questions, making connections, and actually absorbing what they’re seeing.

Built to Meet Educational Standards
Lions Tigers and Bears worked carefully to align this curriculum with AZA’s conservation-focused mission and rigorous educational standards. For teachers, that means the field trip ties directly into what they’re already teaching in the classroom.
For students, it means they’re getting an experience that’s both memorable and meaningful – the kind of day that sparks curiosity and changes how they think about wildlife and conservation.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Wildlife Protectors
Every student leaves with a Wildlife Protector certificate and, more importantly, a better understanding of why protecting these animals matters. The sanctuary’s mission has always been about inspiring respect and care for wildlife, and this new curriculum takes that commitment seriously.
They’re starting with K through 5 students but plan to expand the program to middle and high school students down the line.
