The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch Returns With a Spectacular Season of Color

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch is opening for its 2026 season, and if you’ve never been, this is one of those Southern California experiences worth making time for.

Nearly 80 million Giant Tecolote Ranunculus blanket 55 vibrant acres across the rolling hills of North San Diego County in 13 shades, including red, pink, orange, yellow, and white.

What started in 1965 as a small ranunculus farm has grown into a world-renowned spring destination and one of the most photographed floral displays in the U.S.

Carlsbad Flower Fields

New for the 2026 Season

This year brings a thoughtful mix of new offerings alongside longtime favorites.

A new Local Pop-Up Vendor Series features rotating weekly pop-up shops like Lofty Coffee, Sugar Bear Sweets, and Fox Point Farms, giving locals more ways to support their favorite businesses while offering tourists a holistic San Diego County experience.

The Butterfly Encounter is getting enhanced with a brand new 1,000 square foot greenhouse housing hundreds of butterflies, where you can experience and feed them up close. This year’s greenhouse features exotic butterfly varieties like the Blue Morpho and the Emperor Birdwing, bringing even more natural beauty to the enclosure.

Live Music, Wellness Programming, and Seasonal Events

The outdoor music series returns with performances by singers and bands like the Bayou Brothers, Cool Rush, and Michele Lundeen. Wellness offerings include Sunset Meditation & Sound Healing and Flower Flow Yoga classes.

Seasonal events and hands-on experiences run throughout the season, including Wine Tasting, “Joyful Flowers” (showcasing Ikebana’s Japanese art of flower arranging), Flower Crown and Basket Workshops, and Tea in the Garden.

Iconic Attractions and Family Favorites

Fan-favorite experiences continue, including the American Flag of Flowers, Tractor Wagon Rides, Artist Gardens, Sweet Pea Maze, Santa’s Playground, Carlsbad Mining Company, and U-Pick Blueberries (available Mondays and Tuesdays based on availability).

Wagon Tours are $8 for adults and $4 for children, and the Butterfly Encounter is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

Planning Your Visit

Fred Clarke, General Manager of The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch, says the team has been tending the fields and planting ranunculus during the off-season to prepare for another spectacular season.

Admission must be purchased online before arrival: $27 for adults, $25 for seniors (60+) and military, and $17 for children (3-10). Children under 3 are free. Season passes are available for $65 (adults), $60 (seniors 60+), and $40 (children 3-10), which makes sense if you’re planning to visit more than twice during the season.

See you there!

The Flower Fields keeps getting better with age, and each season brings something new while keeping the core experience intact.
