Point Loma’s Fiddler’s Green Gets a Swanky Makeover

San Diego, we’re about to witness a serious glow-up in the Point Loma dining scene. The iconic Fiddler’s Green is transforming into The Boatyard, and we’re already drooling over the details. This isn’t just any old restaurant revamp—it’s a love letter to our city’s maritime heritage with a hefty side of culinary excellence.

The Boatyard Point Loma

A Dream Team of Local Talent

The crew behind this nautical new hotspot reads like a who’s who of San Diego’s boating, fishing, and restaurant scenes.

At the helm is Michelin-awarded Chef Jason McLeod, joined by Cal and Jan Muir of Sail San Diego, marketing whiz Whitney Eckis, and entrepreneur Spencer Moran. Oh, and did we mention design guru Paul Basile is on board? Yeah, it’s that level of awesome.

What’s on the Menu?

Get ready for fresh, locally sourced seafood that probably swam by this morning, prime steaks that’ll make your mouth water, and a wine and cocktail list that’ll have you saying, “Just one more.” But the real showstopper? Point Loma’s first-ever speakeasy.

From Nautical Charm to Modern Marvel

Remember those 300 boat models lining the walls of Fiddler’s Green? While we’ll miss that quirky charm, we’re pumped to see what Basile cooks up for the new space. The whole place is getting a multi-million dollar facelift, aiming for that sweet spot between relaxed and refined.

A Nod to the Past, A Toast to the Future

For nearly 30 years, Fiddler’s Green was the go-to spot for sailors, fishermen, and anyone looking for a great meal with a side of sea breeze.

The Boatyard crew gets it—they’re not just building a restaurant, they’re preserving a piece of Point Loma history. Cal Muir, who had his first (legal) beer at Fiddler’s Green, is making sure the new spot keeps that community vibe alive.

The Boatyard

Mark Your Calendars

The Boatyard is set to drop anchor in mid-2025. But here’s the kicker—they’re still looking for that last million to make it happen. So if you’ve got some spare change lying around (and by spare change, we mean a cool mil), you could be part of Point Loma’s next big thing.

The Boatyard is shaping up to be the kind of place where you can rock up in flip-flops for a post-surf bite or don your finest for a night out. It’s elegant without the attitude, and we are here for it. 2025 can’t come soon enough!
